The Wheat Father of the Green Revolution

A pencil piece in commemoration of an unsung hero, Dr. Norman Ernest Borlaug. The man who saved millions of lives with his invention.

Dr. Borlaug, an American agronomist, is often referred to as “The Father of the Green Revolution”. For the piece’s title, the word “Wheat” was added intentionally to highlight one of his greatest achievements: the semi-dwarf wheat variant. This wheat was crucial to the Green Revolution, increasing food production in both Mexico and Asia, saving millions from starvation. The piece is meant to honor his legacy and appreciate his efforts of using science to make the world a better place.
